The nesting action of these two small tables is an extension of the grid-solid-void relationships that comprise the surfaces of either piece. The grain of the Maple was carefully indexed before dicing to allow it to be inserted into the grid in the correct order. Further, when nested, void cells in the outer table’s grid correspond to solid cells in the inner table, and vice versa.
