Justin Richards grew up in San Antonio, Texas, pursuing many artistic interests including art, music, creative writing, drafting, model building, and photography. He has architecture degrees from Tulane University and Cranbrook Academy of Art, and participated in a residency at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. He has been building furniture since the turn of the millennium, having set up shop in New Orleans, Michigan, Wyoming, Colorado, and Alaska, where he helps maintain facilities at Chulitna Lodge Wilderness Retreat. He works primarily in wood and modular sheet goods, and bounces between digital design and analog fabrication, though his recent immersion in the Alaskan wilderness has welcomed a necessary shift in process and aesthetic.
